چکیده
1 of 2 DESCRIPTION A 56-year-old man presented with epigastralgia and had lost 10% of his body weight over a period of 6 months. The results of physical examination were normal. No abnormal shadow was detected on chest x-ray ( fi gure 1A ). Oesophagography showed compression of the oesophagus ( fi gure 1B , arrow), although the patient did not complain of dysphagia. Oesophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed compression against the outside of the oesophagus. Threedimensional image reconstruction of a contrast-enhanced CT scan showed an aberrant right subclavian artery ( fi gure 1C , arrow) and double aortic arch ( fi gure 1D , arrow and arrowhead indicate right and left aortic arches, respectively). Figure 2 showed these two aortic arches loop over the corresponding main bronchi, independently. The right aortic arch compressed the oesophagus. The patient’s Images in...

Stridor in a Newborn with Double Aortic Arch-A Case Report
Introduction: Double aortic arch (DAA) is a congenital anomaly of the aortic arch. It is the most common type of complete vascular ring. When it occurs, the connected segment of the aortic arch and its branches encircle the trachea and esophagus, leading to symptoms related to these two structures. Case Report: We present a case of a newborn baby who developed biphasic stridor immediately after...
متن کاملA Case of Balanced Type Double Aortic Arch Diagnosed Incidentally by Transthoracic Echocardiography in an Asymptomatic Adult Patient
A 36-year-old male patient with no remarkable medical history was admitted to our hospital for a health check up. On chest radiography, bilateral aortic notches at the level of aortic arch were shown suggesting aortic arch anomaly without any clinical symptoms. Two aortic arches were almost same-in-size on suprasternal view of transthoracic echocardiography. In addition, multidetector computed ...
متن کاملDouble symmetrical aortic arch in a Czechoslovakian wolfdog – surgical treatment and health assessment four years after treatment: a case report
The paper describes a double symmetrical aortic arch in a dog trapping the oesophagus. Thoracotomy was performed in the fourth inter-costal space under general, isoflurane-maintained, anaesthesia. Cutting of the arterial ligament failed to free the oesophagus. Dissection of further vascular structures revealed the left and right aortic arches to be of similar diameter. A vascular clamp was put ...
متن کاملDouble aortic arch in an adult undergoing coronary bypass surgery: a therapeutic dilemma?
Double aortic arch is a congenital anomaly that is rarely found in adults. Typically, this is treated in infancy secondary to symptoms. We describe the treatment of an asymptomatic adult male that was diagnosed with double aortic arch during cardiac catheterization.
متن کاملThree Cases of a Rare Association: Double Aortic Arch
Background Vascular ring is less than 1% of congenital heart disease. Double aortic arch (DAA) is the most common form of it. Its detecting is important because of the effects of pressure on the esophagus and trachea. Case Report In this study, three children suffering from double aortic arch with symptoms of dysphagia and recurrent aspiration, which in two cases had led to cardiac arrest, wer...
